Syllabus

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are affiliated to Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE ), New Delhi. In classes VI and VII , the state syllabus is followed while in classes from VIII to XII CBSE Syllabus is followed. It is proposed to start NCERT syllabus right from class VI in the coming academic session.

Medium of Instruction

Medium of Instruction is mother tongue/ regional language up to class VII during which proper emphasis is laid on Hindi and English. It switches over to English in VIII and due care is given to strengthen three language formula adopted by Samiti.

Examination

The performance of the students is tested and evaluated through Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system. In a particular academic year there are six Monday Cycle Tests and Two Terminals Examinations for the students of non board classes. The board class students appear for the Board Examination conducted by CBSE in the month of March every year apart from one Terminal Examination and six Monday Cycles Tests . Before appearing for the board examination the students of X and XII appear in two pre-board examination conducted by NVS in the month of December and January of every year. It helps the students to prepare thoroughly for the board examination by identifying their strength and weakness in a particular subject.

Academics & Examination

The prime concern in all the JNVs is academics. These objectives are realized / achieved through the following programmes.

  • Formulating plans to improve classroom teaching by using latest instructional methods and techniques especially the innovative ones.
  • Planning for greater use of learner-centered instructional techniques and activities and individual as well as group assignments.
  • Improved implementation of comprehensive and continuous evaluation of learners' achievement and maintaining record of their progress ; developing learners' profile for discussion with the faculty members and parents.
  • Improving supervision and inspection, remedial instruction facilities , guidance and counseling facilities.
